Members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency have threatened to ‘advise themselves’ if the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Alima Mahamah is allowed to go unopposed.
“We will advise ourselves if she goes unopposed because she has not done anything for the constituents in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency “.‘The only achievement coined by her is her ability to divide us as one people after electing her as our MP. We will lose the seat if she goes unopposed; if they insist, NPP should forget about the seat’, they cautioned.
The MP Hon. Alimah Mahamah who doubles as the local government minister according to the group has since after been elected as a parliamentarian divided the party (NPP) through the following:
They alleged that she has together with party executives forcefully created an album to suit them which angered most party activists to remain silent and inactive which is to the detriment of the part.
According to the group, she has centralized party affairs to her own brother, Yamusah Mahamah and by so doing succeeded in destroying the party structures. They indicated that the brother who is the youth employment’s coordinator is surfacing in almost every contract within the municipality.
‘What a family and friends leadership is this?’ they questioned.
They also noted that the MP was a member of the very committee that was to advice the President as to where to cite the North East Regional Capital and without proper consultation, the decision has not gone down well with most people within the newly created Region.
They also accused her of making all members in her family ‘Alhajis and Hajias’ leaving potential Imams, Sheihks within the Muslim fraternity unattended and forgetting that the Muslim ummah outweighs any groupings in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency.
According to them the MP has domesticated political power to the extent of handing over a brand new pick up to her brother who is the chief of Goabuluga which was meant to be used as the official vehicle for the creation of the North East Region.
