The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has issued a directive for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to with immediate effect from Thursday 23rd April, 2020 to make the wearing of face mask a mandatory for everyone within their jurisdiction in Accra.
The (REGSEC) said the directives are to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 in the Region. The communique sited by ajnewsonline.com has also directed MMDAs to educate the public in the wearing of the face marsk, ensure compilance of social and physical distancing. The MMDAs are also to among other measures create satellite markets to decongest the markets and temporary ban of special market days in Accra.
The Regional Security Council (REGSEC) in its emergency meeting on Wednesday 22nd April, 2020, has therefore entreated all MMDAs to display ‘NO FACE MASK NO ENTRY’ at all public places and lorry stations. Transport owners must also ensure anyone who does not wear a face mask is not allowed to board their vehicles.
Ghana has recorded one thousand one hundred and fifty four(1154) COVID-19 cases of which Greater Accra has recorded the highest number of nine hundred and one cases(901).
