Constituents of Ashaiman being members of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC are exhilarated over decision by one business mogul Emmanuel Maxvoy popularly known as Martin Luther to finally contest in the parliamentary elections.
According to sources, his help to people in the constituency comes handy especially in trying times. That has formed the reasons why people from Ashaiman are so much rooting for his coming to take over the ultimate leadership position in the constituency.
“We want Emmanuel Maxvoy to be MP because he cares about human. He understands what suffering is, and would do anything within his power to help you in times of need. Look at the number of children he has trained. If all those people want to vote, imagine the number of votes.” A constituent explained.
In lieu of their quest to have Emmanuel Maxvoy to be a member of parliament for Ashaiman, a group of NDC members in the Ashaiman Constituency have picked Nomination Forms for and on behalf of the Parliamentary aspirant Emmanuel Maxvoy (Martin Luther).
According to the group, the right thing to do is to send a signal to the parliamentary aspirant that it is not about him but in the interest of the people of Ashaiman.
Speaking to the media, the convenor of the group who is a member of the constituency said picking nomination forms for a member of parliament is not new and cannot be the reasons why one should be attacked as had always been the case. Instead, it is should reveal to the incumbent whose position has been made vacant by virtue of the opening of nomination by the party hierarchy that, one is appointed by citizens to occupy certain positions in order to serve with truth, honesty and dignity.
The convenor again said the parliamentary position is not owned by individuals.
” People who are deemed to be competent and efficient will be required to occupy that position; even if for four years. Just as Alfred Agbesi, K. K. Teye and others had their time passed, so must anybody whose time is due to exit. ” He explained.
He further promised that the current member of parliament shall be subjected to scrutiny as to what his achievements are for the past four years. That which he expects him to answer especially when he had made juicy promises on which he rode into power.
“The MP made promises to give cars to all ward coordinators in the constituency and many more. He has to tell us why he did not fulfil these numerous promises but has rather narrowed the party to rice and oil.” He revealed.
Expressing his excitement, Mr Emmanuel Maxvoy commended Alhaji Abu Isahaku ( a constituency vice chair aspirant), and his group who picked the forms for his inclusion into the parliamentary race.
This not being the first time coming as an aspirant, Emmanuel Maxvoy has tabled plans on how to help the NDC win power into government in 2020 when elected as the Member of Parliament hopeful.
