Police Photographer in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), D/L/Cpl. Gershon K. Gbeve has been adjudged the “Best Tradition & Culture Photographer of the year 2019” in the first edition of “TheGrandPixels Photography Awards organised by Accra Photo Week & the Association of Professional Photographers Ghana dubbed” The Photo Festival 2019″ on the 14th December, at Mmofra Place, Dzorwulu-Accra.
Speaking to AJNewsonline.com, D/L/Cpl. Gbeve says he started Professional Photography in 2003 before joining the Ghana Police Service in the year 2012 where he had the opportunity to express dexterity in photography. He narrated how he won the photography award.
“I use the Realities of Life to tell Photographic Stories, and to show people how i see Things” he said.
He mentioned that the personal Photographer of the former American Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama’s photographer Pete Souza is his mentor and he. Looks forward to doing more in the area of Photography.
According to him, his passion for photography has taken him to places he never dreamt of going to as well as people he never thought of meeting.
The awards has given him a bigger platform to continue to speak against Domestic abuse and Gender Base Violence against Women and Children with his photographs. He added that as a Winner, he will make more photo stories by paying attention to Details to project Ghana and Africa tradition and culture to the World.
He dedicated his award to the Director General of CID COP. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs) for giving him the opportunity to always follow her to Programs which drives him to learn new ways of making meaningful photographs day after day.
