John Mahama is the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress NDC. By virtue of that, he is expected to select a running mate with whom to campaign and contest for the presidency come December 2020 to deliver victory for the NDC.
Since his affirmation election at Congress in the various political constituencies, one wonders what has kept him all this while from choosing a competent man or woman to help him in the campaign and the aftermath in case of possible winning of the elections.
Many have called on the former president and flag bearer to point out one person as his prospective vice president, yet their request and appeal like chaff have been taken by the winds.
The delay in this case has brought so much speculations with some saying that former Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh was the favorite.
Some have also mentioned that the Ghanaian politician and former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Alex Kofi Mensah Mould stands tall as far as selection of running is to be mentioned.
However, what is making waves as far as rumors are concerned is that a professor at the University of Cape Coast John Gatsi has turned down a request by the flag bearer of the NDC to make him his running mate.
According to rumors, the rank and file of the National Democratic Congress have pleaded to the professor but to no avail.
It has been alleged that the reasons why the professor turned down an opportunity that many would go all length for is that, the NDC is no longer attractive, and is not worth the sacrifice of a career he had built all his life.
