There is an uneasy calm in Fumbishi the district capital of the Builsa South District after a young man in his 30s was grussomely murdered. The deceased who’s name is given as Agbedmaanab a native of Baasa in the Builsa South District of the Upper East was allegedly slashed in the throat and killed in a fight that ensued between youth of the Wiesi and Baasa communities both at the Fumbisi market of the District Capital.
Cause of the fight between the youth groups that led to the murder of Mr. Agbedmaanab has not be established, but sources close to says the youth groups have had several fights over a lady who each side tried to win for their colleague respectively.
On the 20th of May, 2020 the Youth of Wiesi attacked the youth group from Baasa at the time when the deceased had gone to see his mother off to board a bus to Accra. On his way back, he was attacked by two young men on a motor bike where one of the young men slashed his throat with a sharp knife which led to the death of the 30 year old Agbedmaanab. The attackers have since absconded.

The murder of the young man has thrown the town into a state of shock, with the youth of Baasa where the deceased came from, threatening of reprisal attacks should the police fail to arrest the suspect.
The Baasa youth known as Youth for Development in a press release have called on the District Security Council to with immediate effect employ its arsenals to get the suspect arrested. According to them if the police fail, they will advise themselves.

The District Police Commander of the Builsa South District, ASP Francis Kwasi Amankwah who confirmed the murder to’s Godwin Wepeba Aloriweh said the case is under investigation.
However, the DISEC as a measure to prevent further attacks, has imposed curfew from 6pm to 6am in around two communities of the district.

Meanwhile the District Chief Executive of the Builsa South District Daniel Kwame Gariba has called for calm among the youth groups pleading with them to let the police investigate the matter.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Navrongo Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. Godwin Wepeba Aloriweh
